1 oz Ticked OFF! spray, all natural, tick repellent

This is a specialized formula specifically created to repel ticks. I used the in-depth research from both Robert Tisserand, world-renowned aromatherapy safety expert, and Stephen Buhner, long-time herbalist and award-winning author of 21 books on plant medicines, including his incredibly popular books on Lyme and co-infections treatments. This formula has been created because of the research that exists to support the use of these essential oils - and I will try and post the research soon. As I have suffered from Lyme and co-infections myself, keeping my family as safe as I can is my biggest priority - and which is why I created this specific formula, and additionally, the essential oils in this formula are safe for kids 5 years and up. My companion Bugger Off! Spray will be added to my Etsy shop and is specific to mosquitoes and other bug bites.
* SHAKE WELL with each use. I do not use any chemicals, so I recommend using good old fashioned elbow grease of shaking before each use to keep the mixture mixed.
* This is a 1 oz bottle.
* Instructions: the base of this formula is what is called a "second skin elixir" which is used to help protect the skin with a mixture that contains carrier oils. Carrier oils are almost always recommended to use with essential oils, as opposed as applying the essential oils directly to the skin - which can be irritating to the skin. Essential oils are very potent medicine, and while essential oils are natural - anyone can have a reaction to even natural ingredients.
* I use my almost 20 years of expertise to source only tested and pure essential oils.
* This formula is recommended for ages 5 and older.
* This formula is not recommended for anyone to use unless they have first done a skin patch test with this product.
1. Apply a small amount of an ingredient to a patch of skin on the inside of your elbow. Rub it in and allow it to dry on the skin.
2. Do not wash that area of the skin for at least 24 hours; watch for signs of a reaction.
3. If no reaction, then it is usually safe to say that this product is safe for you to use on other areas of your skin.
* Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil is a favorite of many to use as a bug and tick repellent, but it also can attract bees, which is why I decided to leave this oil out of the formula:)
* This product is great to spray on your skin. It sticks without being too oily, and has a pleasing scent. But use caution if spraying on clothes that you cannot have ruined. My family, friends and I have sprayed this product on our clothes many times without a problem, but as a product with an oil base, it has the potential to oil stain clothing. After going through Lyme myself, it is much more important to me to be protected from these bites, rather than worry about my clothing. But I also just simply don't wear my best clothes when I'm out where there could be ticks. I hope this information helps!
* This product can be used with dogs also, though it is recommended to spray on their collar, so they aren't licking the spray off of their fur. And as always, cats cannot metabolize essential oils like humans and dogs can, so do not recommend this product for use with cats.
* This spray contain Tagetes minuta, an essential oil with research supporting its use as a tick repellent. However, Tagetes can be irritating to the skin, UNLESS used at the correct dermal use percentage, which is .01%, listed in Robert Tisserands 2nd edition, Essential Oil Safety Guidebook - and that is the percentage I have used for Tagetes in this formula. There is no known phototoxicity or irritation to the skin at this percentage of use, making it safe for most people. (Don't forget to always do a skin patch test as listed above:)
* My family, friends and I try and re-apply this product at least every 6 hours, and up to every 15 minutes if in a very heavily tick-infested area. We do find this product also can help to deter other bugs from biting us. This product can also be used AFTER bug bites to help with itching and swelling. However, if you do find a tick on you, I would recommend removing it correctly, and then there are specific steps I take as an herbalist. 1)
Save the tick and send it in for Borrelia and co-infection testing. 2) You can put Echinacea or Andrographis tincture dropped onto the tick bite, but since most people don't have Andrographis laying around, Echinacea is usually much more easy to obtain. I also like to suggest that people take 1 dropperful 3 times a day of the Echinacea or Androgrpahis tincture internally for at least the next week, or next two weeks. 3) I often suggest people apply Bentonite clay, or charcoal, or plantain leaf, moistened with the tincture and applied to the bite right away. Many believe that the drawing ability of the clay, charcoal, etc can help pull the toxins out. And many herbalists say that people who have used this technique, even if they later become sick, its never as severe an illness as others. My family also takes the Ledum homeopathic after a bite, and we also use Astragalus, taken over the winter, as research has shown that taking astragalus as a preventative before a bite, can ward off a Lyme and/or coinfection infection - at least in mice. I hope to have this astragalus tincture, the same as I use for my kids, available on my Etsy site soon.

Stay safe out there!

+++++ ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS AND WHAT WE DON'T USE +++++
At Vital Roots, we believe that "all natural" means that every single, last ingredient is natural. Not that the main ingredient is natural and that's enough. Or even that almost all ingredients are natural, besides the fragrance oil and synthetic preservatives. At Vital Roots, we use only natural ingredients and that includes our natural preservatives. We are....
*paraben-free *phthalate-free
* sulfate/sls-free *phenoxyethanol-free
* caprlyl glycol (Optiphen)-free * synthetic color-free
*corn, cottonseed, canola and soybean oil-free * petroleum-free
*Never any mineral oil, no solvent-extracted carrier oils, no Tetra-sodium EDTA, no polysorbate 20 or 80.
* And no fragrance oils. The term "fragrance" can have up to 4,000 separate chemicals, which the FDA does not require the manufacturer to list. Many of these chemicals are carcinogenic, toxic, or hormone disruptors.

* This is a 1 oz bottle.
