Breakbone Fever Tincture
from $10.00
(1 oz, 2 oz & 4 oz )
Breakbone Fever Tincture: Support for the achy-breaky - makes you feel like your bones are breaking - type of cold and flu.
Paul Bergner, my primary herb teacher (and you can find his program at NAIMH.com) reported in his book, "The Healing Power of Echinacea & Goldenseal and Other Immune System Herbs", that Boneset's support for the body during an acute illness of flu was used by Native Americans, exported to England, and used by the groups, Eclectic, Physiomedicalists, Homeopathics, conventional medicine doctors, Anglos, and Afro-American cultures. But for some reason, modern herbalism doesn't use this herb readily. It's possibly because large doses cause nausea and possibly it's bitter taste. A modern mystery. But I created this formula to bring back the incredible support that Boneset offers. In Vitalist Herbalism, we encourage sweating during an acute infection to help support the body to heal itself by elevating the body temperature and sweat. The other herbs in the formula help to cover the intense bitter flavor, and honey can be added to the hot tea to help improve the flavor and also provide the soothing and healing benefits that honey provides also. This is the formula that I used when my son developed viral symptoms during 2020.
Studies have shown that Boneset stimulates phagocytosis better than Echinacea, and help soothe the achiness in muscles from flu, and helps shorten the duration of acute illness.
Osha: The Osha I use is only from a very specific wildcrafter who has been tending stands of Osha for over 30 years, so is very intent to make sure his stands are not only sustainable, but growing. Osha purchased on the commercial market is not recommended as you don't know if it was sustainably harvested. Osha can soothe sinus, lung issues, sore throats and lots of mucus and help support other acute viral symptoms.
Licorice: is known to help support the body during viral infections with its constituent glycyrrhizen, but has demulcent and soothing effects on all mucous membranes also.
Echinacea: Echinacea and Boneset were a favored combo for German physicians and Eclectics. Can help enhance the immune system.
Ginger: supports immune function, digestive secretions, increases blood circulation and a fantastic anti-inflammatory to support the body during colds and flu.
Red Roots: I always include a lymphogogue with a cold care remedy as the body is fighting off an infection and Red Root can help clear the extra debris from this process.
+++++DOSAGE+++++
At the first suspicion of a viral infection, take 10-50 drops in a cup of hot water every half hour up to 5 doses to encourage sweating. If the tincture is causing nausea, cut back the number of drops. If the viral infection has already taken hold, take 10-50 drops four times a day. But only use for 5-10 days at a time, unless under the care of a knowledgeable practitioner.
+++++INGREDIENTS+++++
Organic herbs Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum), Echinacea (Echinacea angustifolia), Osha (Ligusticum porteri), Licorice (Glycyrriza glabra), Red root (Ceoanthus americanus), Fresh or dried Ginger (Zingiber officinale), vodka
Contraindications: This formula only uses dried Boneset, as the fresh plant can be toxic. Do not use this formula in pregnancy, and do not use this formula for over 10 days at a time.
+++++INFORMATION ABOUT MY TINCTURES+++++
I'm so excited to now offer tinctures, syrups, elixirs, vinegars and more remedies on my Etsy site! And I'm offering these items for a great deal less than others are selling these items. Why? For a few reasons.
One, because many of these tinctures and remedies have been created through the many classes I teach. I have to mix up the formula BEFORE the class, then we create the formula again IN class, and every time, I have quite a bit of the finished formula left over. Which I have used these additional remedies in my own home medicine cabinet for years, but now I just have TOO much plant medicine for my family to use alone. So I offer these remedies to you at this superb discount so that you too can use herbal remedies in a cost effective manner. I'm well-trained (and teach many classes) on the proper weight to volume tincture creation for each herb, and I research Moore, Tilgner, Buhner, Easley, Cech and others to decide which percentage of alcohol is best for each herb. My herbs almost exclusively organic and the few I can't get organically, are wildcrafted. The herbs are also continually rotated through, so I never have old, useless herbs being used as medicine.
Another reason is that I want to carry a few tinctures and remedies that I use quite often with my own clients. So some medicines I want to be cost effectively available for my clientele.
And lastly, in addition to tinctures and remedies from my classes and for clients, I also grow what is getting to be a large herb garden at my home. I mostly grow herbs for my herbal products to be infused in oils, but some herbs I just grow because I am fascinated with them, or I want to see all the stages of growth from the beginning to end of a particular herb. And often once I harvest these herbs, I'll put them directly into alcohol to make a tincture. And it usually makes a LOT! A perfect example of this is my elecampane tincture. I watched and watered and grew this plant for two beautiful years, so I could harvest the 2nd year root. It was a fascinating experience as I watched this plant grow more than 7 feet tall, gorgeous yellow flowers blooming and when I dug up the root, which took help from my husband and kids, there was SO MUCH root. So I put it all in alcohol and now have the most incredible brownish rose colored tincture to sell here on Etsy. So much love goes into these tinctures and remedies - but take advantage of these medicines now! As the tinctures with my handwritten ingredients on them, likely won't be replenished. Once I sell out, I likely won't make more. Green Blessings to you and hope you enjoy the magick of herbal medicine!

+++++DOSAGE+++++
+++++INGREDIENTS+++++
+++++INFORMATION ABOUT MY TINCTURES+++++
